20 Minutes to Life is a short comedy about 9 year old “good kid” Olivia and her very first detention. She imagines it as a prison, complete with barred windows, guards, and a warden. Olivia must befriend the “bad kids” and figure out how to solve 20,000 math problems in 20 minutes in order to escape.
20 Minutes to Life was awarded the MPPIA Short Film Award at the 2017 Whistler Film Festival and had its world premiere at the 2018 Whistler Film Festival.
The film went on to win Best Short Film at the LA Femme Film Festival, 1st Place Comedy Short Shorts at Just For Laughs NorthWest, and play on Super Channel as part of the 2020 Canadian Film Fest.
